FTTC & FTTP Broadband
Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC)
Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) Superfast Fibre Broadband, up to 80Mb download speed and up to 20Mb upload speed, now waiting for pages to refresh, download files instantly.
Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)
Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP), also often referred to as Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) provides an end-to-end fibre optic connection with the full distance from the exchange to the building and can deliver faster speeds than FTTC as there is no copper leg at all.
Businesses that are looking for guaranteed speeds and faster data transfer should be considering FTTP, based on what you could already be paying FTTP could work out only a little more a month to have speeds guaranteed up to 100Mb/100Mb. Why not give us a call for a no-obligation review of your internet connectivity.
How Fast is Fibre Broadband?
FTTC broadband comes in two variants which offer a downstream line speed of 80meg (80Mbps) or 40meg (40Mbps), but the actual maximum speed of the service will be slightly lower than this at around 78 / 39Mbps. Different upstream speeds are available at either 2Mbps or 10Mbps on the 40meg variant and 20meg up on the 80meg.
If you are lucky enough to live in an area that will receive FTTP (full-fibre), download speeds of 100Mbps and upstream speeds of 100Mbps are available. The FTTP products offer the speed options of 10/10Mb, 10/100Mb all the way up to 100/100Mb, speeds of up to 330Mb are currently being rolled out in the UK in select areas.
Can I get Fibre Broadband?
Fibre broadband currently has a limited rollout. As of March 2012 around seven million homes had the option of fibre from Openreach (28% of UK households) this is expected to rise to ten million by the end of 2012. It should be remembered that while an exchange is announced for FTTC/P that not all premises served by an exchange will benefit, generally only 85% of properties see their cabinet enabled for FTTC on an exchange.
Note: Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) is amazingly faster than ADSL2+, however, you have to be aware that if you are in an area that has extremely low ADSL2+ signal or none at all, you may find that you will not get the broadband speeds mentioned above. If you would like to know what sort of speed you can get and if you can receive FTTC please give us a call on 0844 856 1800.
Boost your productivity with Superfast Fibre (FTTP) speeds from 10/10Mb to 100/100Mb.
